Switzerland to allocate $ 12 million for projects in Azerbaijan
Xeberinvar.com - Reports That-Switzerland is currently developing a regional cooperation strategy for the South Caucasus for 2022-2025. Within its framework, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) plans to allocate about 11 million Swiss francs (12 million US dollars) for economic cooperation projects in Azerbaijan, SECO told Trend.
"SECO provides financial support to the investment climate and competitiveness of agribusiness project in Azerbaijan, which is being implemented by the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group. This project supports the Azerbaijani government in diversifying and increasing the competitiveness of the economy by:
- improving the overall investment climate by optimizing business regulation and moving to inspections based on risk assessment, developing and implementing a national strategy for attracting foreign direct investment;
- increasing the competitiveness of agribusiness, which employs almost 40 percent of the workforce in Azerbaijan.
The project expands access to quality seeds, optimizes regulation in agribusiness value chains and expands access to agrofinance products (credit instruments and other products) for agricultural enterprises, "SECO said.
